About the Artist

Martha Lucy is a mixed media artist based in Suffolk, UK.
My work explores how expression, emotion and sensation are experienced through the body. My creative practice is an eclectic mix of disciplines; using both traditional and experimental techniques to describe and capture the intimate relationship between the internal and external worlds. My creativity reflects a fascination with the physicality of being human and the embodiment of the self.
My practice primarily involves drawing and line work, but also includes other disciplines, such as painting, book arts, jewellery, doll making, textile crafts, photography and more.
I have created work for a range of industries, as well as having original artworks and prints in private collections across the UK, Europe, America, UAE, Australia and New Zealand.

Here’s The Truth Of It
My name is Martha. I am an artist, designer, crafter, maker of things. I draw, I paint, I sew, I cut and stick. I am a goblin-like collector of sticks and stones, my pockets are always carrying feathers or shells.
I live in a world of make believe. I love all things magic and fantasy where I read tea leaves and talk to trees and draw the flow of feeling.
I like rich colour and high contrast images, beautiful line quality, highly textured surfaces like thick brush stokes and embellished textiles, minutely detailed drawings and bold abstractions.
I like 90s fashion and 2000’s music. I love festivals. I drink tea all day but coffee in the morning. I like fruit and pastry and cake and biscuits. I like to bake but I’m not very good.
I like ephemera, erotica, occult, design, illustration, hand made, maximalism, zines, queer things, book arts, witchery, history, jewellery, textiles, costumes, philosophy,
I didn’t mean to make this rhyme but that was fun… also stories, make believe, photography, kink, clouds, walks in the woods, knickknacks, and thingybobs.
